Erbil İçme Suyu Arıtma Tesisi 2025 İtibarıyla Tam Kapasiteye Yakın Şekilde Hizmet Veriyor

One of Iraq’s largest drinking water infrastructure investments, the Erbil Drinking Water Treatment Plant, was commissioned in late 2025 and began providing an uninterrupted drinking water supply to the city. With a treatment capacity of 500,000 m³ per day, the plant stands out as a fully operational system that is actively used by the people of Erbil and continues to create value.

All mechanical manufacturing, equipment supply, instrumentation and commissioning processes of the plant were carried out by Vatek Environmental Technologies and its expert engineering and technical teams, with an advanced engineering approach and extensive field experience. The project was completed in full compliance with the design criteria and commissioned as a system that provides an uninterrupted water supply to the city’s distribution network.

Reliable Drinking Water Through Advanced Process Technologies

At the Erbil Drinking Water Treatment Plant, advanced engineering solutions including penstock systems, rotating bridge scrapers, clariflocculators, polymer dosing units, sand filters, decanters, wastewater transfer and conveyor systems, gas chlorination units and precision measurement instruments were integrated into the treatment process. Thanks to this comprehensive process structure, the plant provides high efficiency and operational continuity even under varying raw water conditions.

The system was designed in full compliance with international drinking water quality standards, with reliability, sustainability and long-term operational performance established as the main criteria.

An Operational Investment That Adds Value to Urban Life

Beyond being a technically completed facility, the project stands out as an infrastructure investment that is fully operational today and has become an integral part of urban life. The active use of the treated water clearly demonstrates the engineering success of the plant.

Adopting an end to end engineering approach in large scale drinking water projects, Vatek Environmental Technologies has successfully delivered the Erbil Drinking Water Treatment Plant as a strategic project that contributes to the region’s long term water security.

A Sustainable Infrastructure Approach for the Future

Operational since late 2025, the plant was designed by considering population growth, climate conditions and increasing pressure on water resources. Factors such as energy efficiency, ease of operation and maintenance continuity form the foundation of the system design.

With its technical capacity, stable operational performance and social benefits, the Erbil Drinking Water Treatment Plant stands out as one of the region’s most critical and strategic drinking water infrastructure projects.
